I tried to spy out this Super Moon last night and early this morning but alas, we were cloud covered. I could see where it was behind the fluffy gray and white clouds. It did light up the sky. Maybe it will clear enough tonight to get a peek at it on its second evening.
I love the moonlight. In the Oregon summers when I was about 12 I would sneak out of the house on full moon nights. The path to the tree house in the woods was moon marked. I'd climb up the tree and on to the house platform to lie on my back and watch the moon. When I found this poem my adolescent imagination was charged by the thought of the moon pressing its face to mine. When I was in college I painted an abstract of the view from the tree house with the moon overwhelming the woods and the eye of the viewer. I still have it, it wasn't very good, but it meant something to me. Maybe I should try again.
Some Kiss We Want - a poem by Rumi 1207-1273
There is some kiss we want with
Our whole lives, the touch of
Spirit on the body. Seawater
Begs the pearl to break its shell.
And the lily, how passionately
It needs some wild darling! At
Night, I open the window
and ask the moon to come and press its
Face against mine. Breathe into me.
Close the language-door and
Open the love-window. The moon
Won’t use the door, only the window.
Our whole lives, the touch of
Spirit on the body. Seawater
Begs the pearl to break its shell.
And the lily, how passionately
It needs some wild darling! At
Night, I open the window
and ask the moon to come and press its
Face against mine. Breathe into me.
Close the language-door and
Open the love-window. The moon
Won’t use the door, only the window.

Try again. The moon is a wondrous thing.
We had a dark and wintry sky last night and the clouds are as heavy again tonight, so I will be tucked up in my bed early tonight. Sleep is the only romance I wish to kiss my cheek!
Grannymar - a cozy sleep is one of my favorites.
I was fortunate to get a good glimpse of it Saturday night. It was unlike anything I've ever seen.

I saw it filling the sky when we were inland, but as soon as I got home to a camera, no moon. Hugs.
