Father's Day

In college, no wife, no kids, plans for the future.

He married in May, 1941, graduated college in June and went to Alaska as a biologist. Mom was in Oregon with her mother and one child (me) on the way, and a war coming. Still had plans for the future.

What a handsome happy dad. Dare I inquire what happened to his plans for the future?
like the snap of a finger, a life goes by.
Dad returned in the fall, was drafted and assigned 4F, went to work for Boeing, had a second daughter and then got a job running a fish hatchery on the Washington coast, his degree was in Fisheries Biology. We had many job related moves, he and Mom eventually had four daughters. With the birth of the fourth girl, he went back to school and got his PHD in Fisheries. He sent all four of their offspring to college, and eventally moved to back to Lake Oswego, Oregon where my mother wished to live after all the moving. He said if he had to live his life all over again he would do everything the same.
